I’ve been thinking about converting my 2018 Focus ST to run an ethanol blend, maybe E30 or E50, because everyone says the octane and cooling effect are amazing for performance. But I live in Dubai and the summer heat is no joke, so I’m genuinely worried about cold starts, fuel system corrosion, and whether the extra power is even usable when the roads are clogged with traffic. A few people at the last car meet told me that if you go ethanol, you absolutely need a proper custom calibration from someone who understands how to adjust cold start enrichment and doesn’t just copy a generic map. I’ve been looking at Dyno Star Workshop since they seem to have a good reputation for forced induction cars, but I’m hesitant because I daily drive the car and I don’t want to deal with hunting for E85 pumps or testing content every single week. Has anyone here run ethanol through a full summer without issues? How much did your fuel economy drop and did you have to change your oil more frequently? Really torn between just staying on pump gas for reliability or taking the plunge for that extra torque.
