My wife’s Corolla refused to start outside her office last week, and since then I have been going back and forth about what to do. The battery is almost four years old, and the guy who jump started us said it was probably cooked from the summer. I am not great with cars, so I am mostly going by what people tell me. One colleague swears by Amaron, another says any brand is fine as long as it is fresh, and I honestly cannot tell who is right. I did read a page on yesterday that listed a few dealers and explained what to check, but I would like to hear from people who have actually walked into these shops. Does anyone know a Genuine Amaron battery dealer near ICAD that you would send your own family to? What makes a shop genuine in the first place, is it the sticker on the battery, an invoice, or something on the warranty card? I once bought a battery that turned out to be almost a year old, and I only found out later when it died early, so now I am a little paranoid. Do they usually let you see the manufacture date before paying? Also, how long does the fitting take if you go in the morning, and is it included or charged extra? One more thing I keep wondering is whether it makes sense to ask them to test the old battery first, just in case it is something else like a loose terminal. If you have a shop name, a rough price for a mid size sedan, or even a mistake to avoid, please share. I would rather spend an extra hour driving there than buy the wrong thing again.
