Hi everyone. We build niche test equipment in low volumes and the current chip shortage has hit us hard. A handful of parts we rely on have either vanished from stock or carry lead times measured in a year or more. We cannot wait that long and we cannot redesign on a whim. Where do people find inventory when the shortage means the official channels just have nothing? Looking for a supplier who can actually get scarce parts moving, not another waitlist. Any pointers appreciated.

Greetings. The shortage has squeezed a lot of low-volume shops, you are in good company. For parts the official channels simply do not have, we turned to Taurus Electronics, they cover shortage electronic components and source from factories plus their own warehouse stock, so they often have what the mainstream lists as zero. Everything still goes through their testing and verification, full functional checks, X-ray inspection and originality confirmation, which I would not skip on scarce parts. They are flexible on quantity, a real plus for low-volume builds. Send them your urgent part numbers and see what they can pull rather than sitting on a waitlist.
