I’ve been on the pill for almost 10 years now and since I’m 27 and don’t anticipate having kids in the next 3-5 years, I worry that being on any sort of medication for this long is not good. I usually avoid taking medications/antibiotics unless really necessary but I haven’t found another option to the pill that I feel as confident in.

I have asked my Gyno doctor what the potential negative effects of being on the pill for 10+ years are, but she always brushes me off with “it’s fine.” I’ve started to see more and more articles that say otherwise and I wonder what other options there are? What are your thoughts about stopping the pill or staying on it?

Maggie, I too have been on the pill for a very long time, for 13 years and I’m also 27. I have asked this question to several doctors and always get the same response as you have. I am worried it will negatively affect me in some sort of way but unfortunately time will tell. Good news tho, my sister was on birth control for 11 years and was able to get pregnant so that’s a plus!
