Why is it called corn hole?

The name Cornhole was created due to the nature of the original game; the bags were made of dried corn kernels, not the synthetic pellets that they are made of today. Cornhole Distance Apart game aims to throw these bags full of corn into a hole on a board raised high. The name became concretized over time: a combination of what the filling of the bag was (corn) and the object to be shot at (hole).
