I went to two different shops last week to price a new battery for my Toyota Corolla, and the first guy swore Varta is the only one that survives Dubai summers, while the second one laughed and said Bosch is just as good and cheaper. I left more confused than when I walked in. My current battery is about three years old and it has started cranking slowly after the car sits in the sun all day, so I cannot wait much longer. That night I read a Top Varta vs Bosch battery head to head comparison, and what I took from it is that both are well known brands with different models, and that the real difference depends on the exact battery you pick, not only the name on the top. That helped a little, but I still want to hear from people who have used both. Which one lasted longer for you in this heat, and how many years did you get? Is the price gap worth it, or do you end up paying the same in the long run? Also, does the warranty really differ, and is it easy to claim if something goes wrong? Another thing I wonder about is the date code, because I do not want a battery that sat on a shelf for a year. If you changed yours lately, please tell me what you bought, what you paid, and if you would choose the same again. Easy answers are best, I am not a car person.
