Hey. Our siding is fiber cement, installed maybe fifteen years ago, and a couple of boards cracked after a tree branch hit them in a storm. The house is only fifteen years old, so I didn’t expect problems this soon. Can fiber cement be repaired, or does the whole wall need redoing?

Hey. Fiber cement boards can usually be replaced individually, no need to redo the whole wall. We had storm damage on our house in Northgate and called GotRot for Seattle Siding Repair. They replaced the cracked boards, matched the profile and repainted the area so it blended in. They also checked that the impact hadn’t damaged anything behind. The insurance even covered part of it as storm damage. Honestly, getting an exact color match on older paint is tricky, so be ready to repaint the whole wall section. The repair looks seamless now.
