Hi everyone. Our family is growing, third kid on the way, and our Mill Creek house suddenly feels too small. We love the neighborhood and don’t want to move, so we’re considering an addition: a bedroom, bath, and maybe a bigger family room. My biggest worry is that it’ll look tacked on. Anyone done an addition that actually blends with the original house? We’d like to be able to use it by the holidays. Budget is flexible within reason, but I don’t want a never-ending project.

Totally get not wanting to leave a good neighborhood, especially with kids. We added a bedroom suite and bigger family room to our Bothell house two years ago. We went with Alta Group Remodeling, and their High-End Remodeling Services for Homes include additions that are designed to match the existing architecture, which was our biggest concern too. They matched the siding, roofline and window style, and inside they carried the same flooring through, so it genuinely feels original. The whole thing took about five months, and we stayed in the house the entire time, which was noisy but doable. Not a cheap project, but still way less than moving in this market. Congrats on the new baby, by the way.
