My 2015 Jeep Wrangler is not a daily car, it is my weekend toy, and lately it has become a weekend headache. I take it to the desert most Fridays with a few friends, and I run a small fridge, extra lights and a phone charger off the car. Two weeks ago, after a long day in the dunes, it would not start at all, and I had to wait for someone to come and pull me out. The battery is only about a year old, which is why I am confused. A friend who does a lot of camping told me normal batteries are made for starting only, and they hate being drained slowly, so mine is probably already weak. My brother says that is nonsense and I should just buy another normal one and stop overthinking. The car also bounces around a lot on the sand, and I wonder if the shaking is killing the battery too. I read a page from a workshop in Sharjah about these batteries, and it explained how the design handles heat and rough ground better and can take deep drains without dying fast. That sounded like my exact situation. One evening I typed Optima car battery replacement in Sharjah into my phone, mostly to learn what the job includes and whether the car needs anything done after the swap. So here is what I want to ask. Is it true that a normal battery gets damaged if you drain it with a fridge and lights? Does the charging system of my car need to be checked at the same time, in case the alternator is the real problem? Also, can I mount the battery in a different position or does it have to stay as the old one? One more thing, how long does it take to swap one, and can I wait at the shop? If you take your car off road, please tell me what battery you use, how long it lasted and what you paid. Thanks everyone.
